Description

At present regular sessions on proton therapy of cancer and some other diseases are carried out at the Medicotechnical Complex of the JINR DLNP (about 100 patients per year). The technique of 3D conformal therapy was developed to irradiate tumours seated in the vicinity of radiosensitive vitals. In this technique the maximum of delivered dose distribution coincides with the target form with accuracy. Also the dose decreases very rapidly at the target boundaries. It gives an opportunity to irradiate localizations which could not be treated with the traditional radiotherapy. In this article the main technological states of the treatment planning and irradiation with the developed technique are presented
