Oxidation of microamounts of Bk(III) and Ce(III) by ozone in nitrate solutions
- 1. AN SSSR, Moscow. Inst. Geokhimii i Analiticheskoj Khimii
Description
Trace amounts of 249Bk and 144Ce (10-9-10-6M) in 1-9M HNO3 are oxidized by ozone to the tetravalent state for 0.5-min. The degree of oxidation of Bk increases with the decreases of HNO3 concentration while that of Ce decreases. The completeness of Bk(III) and Ce(III) oxidation to Bk(IV) and Ce(IV) was tested by coprecipitation with zirconium phosphate, using 95Zr isotope. (F.G.)
