Design and simulation of stripline kicker for HLS Ⅱ transverse feedback system

Description
A new digital bunch-by-bunch transverse feedback system will be used in the upgrade project of Hefei Light Source (HLS Ⅱ) to suppress the coupled bunch instabilities in the storage ring. Therefore, a new stripline transverse feedback kicker was designed in this paper. The calculations of the characteristic impedance and the electric field of the kicker were carried out by the Poisson code. The variation of characteristic impedance versus the cross-sectional structure parameters was analyzed by using the regression equation and the least squares method, and the 50 Ω external transmission line was matched through the optimal choice. The shunt impedance and the reflection coefficient were obtained by the HFSS code. Simulation and calculation results provide important supports for the structure design. (authors)
