Energy release in a twisted flare prominence

Description
The values of the field force-free factor are deduced from an account of the relaxation of a twisted magnetic, ropelike prominence ejected by a flare. The associated axial current of about 10 to the 11th A in the prominence, and the rate of energy release with time, are both obtained. The induced emf implicated in the acceleration of particles is estimated to be 2.8 x 10 to the 9th, on average. 6 references
