Description

Platform-independent application frameworks based on a C++ class libraries provide a uniform programming interface to OS-specific tasks like drawing or I/O, and allow to develop GUI applications, which use the same source code on all supported platforms. Such a frameworks has been utilised to develop a user friendly GUI application for on-line and off-line data quality checks for the HI experiment at HERA. Two target platforms had to be supported MacintoshTM computers and Silicon Graphics workstations. This paper will explain the underlying concept and survey the experiences gained. (author)
