To the problem of development of high-power gas discharge gaps

Description
The problems of creation of gas discharge commutators of electric energy of megajoule level from the point of view of the operation regime and provision of erosion resistance of their most responsible element-cathode, are considered. The possibilites of different physical mechanisms of energy release from cathode to provide its operating ability in high-power discharges with a greater pulse duration which are formed in this process, are analyzed. It is shown that the the most efficient mechanism of energy release from cathode is its cooling by emitted electrons with emission being anomalously high
