Description

Thorotrast is an X-ray contrast medium for use in angiography and consists of a colloidal dextrin-stabilized 25%-thorium-dioxide solution. The results obtained allow to make some propositions concerning the hazards of radiation-induced carcinogenesis in liver, spleen, muscular connective tissue, lungs, bone marrow, marrow-free bones and kidneys. Abstract (German)

Thorotrast ist ein Roentgenkontrastmittel zur Gefaessdarstellung mit einer 25%-igen, durch Dextrin stabilisierten kolloidalen Loesung von Thoriumdioxid. Anhand der vorliegenden Ergebnisse lassen sich Aussagen ueber das Risiko einer strahleninduzierten Tumorenentstehung in Leber, Milz, Muskelbindegewebe, Lungen, Knochenmark, markfreiem Skelett und Nieren machen.
