Synthesis and crystal structure of (m-carboran-9-yl)(diisopropoxyphosphoryl)mercury

Description
Carborane derivatives m-C2H2B10H9P(O) · (OPr-iso)2, containing the chain B-Hg-P, was synthesized by means of interaction between bis(m-carbonyl)mercury and [(iso-PrO)2PO]2Hg. The crystals of the compound prepared are monoclinic, at 20 degC a = 11.067(2), b = 14.015(3), c 13.387(3) A, β = 107.78(3), V = 1977,2(7) A3 dcalcd 1.1710 g/cm3, Z = 4, sp. gr. P21/c. The length of B-Hg covalent σ-bond is 2.13 A. Molecules in the crystal are jointed in centrally symmetric associates at the expense of Hg...O coordination bond
