Description
Rectal bleeding is a common late sequelae after 3dCRT for prostate cancer and it is caused by the development of telangiectasia in the rectal mucosa. 465 patients received a dose of 70 Gy and 74 Gy, respectively. The mean follow-up was 37 months. A rectoscopy was performed before radiotherapy and 12 as well as 24 months after radiotherapy. The results were graduated according to the Vienna Rectoscopy Score and correlated with rectal side effects (EORTC/RTOG-score). A significant correlation between late rectal side effects and rectoscopy-score was found. (author)
