Knowledge management - a vendor's view

The nuclear industry in Canada has benefitted from close collaboration between Operators, OEMs, Vendors, Academics and Regulators, all the way back to the design construction and operation of the Nuclear Power Demonstration plant. The healthy CANDU fleet we enjoy today could not have developed without this cooperative approach. Entities whose main function is to promote collaboration between industry players have also facilitated such arrangements. While Vendors have willingly participated in many collaborations, there are nevertheless some barriers that make it particularly difficult for vendors to collaborate with other vendors. This talk will explore the factors that contribute to this difficulty and discusses some conditions under which collaboration by vendors and between vendors can be made less threatening
