The specific volume of a field-reversed configuration and its application to stability analysis
Description
The expressions of the specific volume V' and the related quantities, V and V'', in a field-reversed configuration (FRC) are given. The three quantities are graphically presented. The limiting forms of these quantities are considered. In the case of the FRC the second derivative of the plasma volume is positive everywhere in the plasma. The Solov'ev's sufficient condition of stability is not satisfied for the equilibrium configuration. (author)
