Indigenous development of low level RF modules for Indus-2 RF systems

  • 1. Centre for Advanced Technology, Indore (India)

Description

With the uncertainty in the availability of various components and modules at high frequency due to fluctuations in sanction imposed, steps were taken towards indigenous development of various low level RF modules required in the Indus-2 RF Systems at 505.8 MHz. The building blocks like Limiting Amplifiers, fast phase shifters, Voltage Controlled Attenuators. RF- DC Detectors, Directional Couplers and Power Splitters etc. up to few hundred milli watts were developed with the available devices and technology. Development of these building blocks in numbers with required specifications comparable to commercial available ones have not only been cost effective but has given confidence to develop expertise in different fields of RF Systems required in Synchrotrons and Storage Rings. Different low-level RF modules of Indus-2 RF Systems are described here with the results achieved. (author)
