Determination of reactivity by analysis of the Rh Self Powered Neutron Detector signals

Description
Applicability of the Rh Self Powered Neutron (SPN) Detector in a reactivity meter has been analysed and the results are presented. Influence of errors in the detector current recording, influence of inaccuracies in the signal prompt component determination, and influence of the calculational algorithm on accuracy of reactivity determination has been examined. Results of the reactivity determination performed for a WWER-440 are presented. Reactivity of a reactor disturbed by a movement of the 6th regulating assembly determined on the base of the Rh SPN detector signal analysis has been compared with the reactivity found by analysing a signal from an ionization chamber. Referring to the results of the performed measurements and analysis, possibility for applying the Rh SPN detector in a reactivity meter has been concluded. (author)
