Description
The emergence of surface superconductivity in a type I superconductor is considered taking into account the surface free energy of the superconducting phase. It is shown that the disregard of the surface energy leads to a substantial error in determining the Ginzburg-Landau parameter from the measurements of the Hc3 field.
