Solitary vortices in magnetohydrodynamics
Creators
Description
This paper elucidates the form of the magnetic surfaces of real solitary vortices in magnetohydrodynamics. The author confines attention to the two-dimensional problem. The stationary solutions of ideal MHD are examined, and the study of equilibrium magnetic configurations is considered. It was found that a single solitary vortex is axisymmetrical and that two vortices with the same circulation can exist, if they are isolated
