Description
The problem of positron trapping by cation vacancies is studied by measuring the angular distribution of positron annihilation photons (ADAP) in Sr2+ and Ba2+ doped KCl containing IV-dipoles or its aggregates. KCl:Sr and KCl:Ba crystals with a predominant concentration of isolated IV-dipoles have been obtained after quenching down to room temperature of samples preliminary annealed at 870 K for 2 h. From ADAP curves it can be concluded that the positronium atom is more effectively formed in the cation vacancies of the IV-dipoles than in the cation vacancies of the aggregates. (author)
