Gravitational Faraday rotation induced by a Kerr black hole

Description

We study the gravitational lens effect caused by a Kerr black hole via the propagation of a polarization vector along a light ray. In particular, we find a rotation of the plane of polarization due to the presence of the black hole's spin. The rotation angle is proportional to the mass and the line-of-sight component of the angular momentum of the black hole. This is a general-relativistic effect analogous to the well-known Faraday rotation
