Determination of experimental data by batch experiments to estimate the migration retardation of radioactive fission and activation products
Description
Sorption and desorption equilibriums of radionuclides of the elements Sr2+, Cs+, Co2+ and I- determined in batch experiments with natural samples, in general show considerable dependences on the experimental and chemical boundary conditions. By applying exponential isotherms it can be demonstrated that such dependences ultimately can be reduced to the influence of radionuclide concentration. If, in addition, the concurrent influence of other ions existing in the groundwater is taken into account, it can be concluded that the sorption of these radionuclides is conditioned by isotope or ion exchange. Abstract (German)
In Batchversuchen an natuerlichen Proben bestimmte Sorptions- und Desorptionsgleichgewichte von Radionukliden der Elemente Sr2+, Cs+, Co2+ und I- zeigen im allgemeinen erhebliche Abhaengigkeiten von den experimentellen und chemischen Randbedingungen. Durch die Anwendung exponentieller Isothermen kann gezeigt werden, dass diese Abhaengigkeiten letztlich auf den Einfluss der Radionuklidkonzentration reduziert werden koennen. Beruecksichtigt man darueber hinaus den konkurierenden Einfluss anderer im Grundwasser vorhandenen Ionen laesst sich schliessen, dass die Sorption dieser Radionuklide durch Isotopen- bzw. Ionenaustausch bedingt wird. (orig.)
