Nuclear magnetic resonance imaging apparatus

Description

A nuclear magnetic resonance imaging apparatus including a device for sensing the motion of a moving part of the body being imaged is described. The device includes two light guides one end of one of the guides being supported in spaced apart, optical alignment with one end of the other guide. A transparency having a spatially varying optical density is positioned in the gap between the two aligned ends of the light guides. The transparency is arranged to move with the movement of the moving part of the body so as to vary the transmission of light between the light guides with the movement, the imaging procedure carried out so to take account of the position of the moving part at the time when NMR signals are emitted.
