Some radiation safety issues of the first Cuban NPP in Ernandes

Description

The results of inspection of the first Cuban NPP region are discussed. A preliminary analysis of the radioactive releases impact on the environment has been carried out. The issues of a radiation monitoring system are considered including the arrangement of a monitoring stations set and preliminary programme for the environment inspection. The expected population doses both during normal NPP operation and due to accidents will be lower than the permissible limits. The radiation monitoring system is to be put into operation 2 years before the NPP start-up to accumulate sufficient statistics on the radiation background in the NPP region
