Specificity of interferon induced in xenogenous chimaeral by an influenza virus and poly I:C

Description
Administration of poly I:C to xenogenous chimaerae (rat - mouse) induces formation of serum interferon of a mouse type; an inifluenza virus induces production of both mouse and, to a lesser degree, rat interferons. If poly I:C or an influenza virus are injected to xeno geneous chimaerae pretreated (20-24 hours before) with poly I:C the production of interferone of a mouse type decreases markedly; the level of the rat interferon is invariable
