Description

We present the current developmental status and future potential of what we believe to be a very promising hard x-ray andamma ray detector for x-ray and g gamma-ray astronomy. This high pressure xenon gas scintillation imaging drift chamber combines excellent spatial resolution, very good energy resolution, good ime resolution, and extremely high sensitivity because of its excellent background rejection capabilities; and it offers possibilities for relatively easy extra-polation to large area detectors
