France: 29 000 MW of nuclear energy under construction

Description
The French nuclear energy programme, the end of which was predicted in particular by the German mass media upon President Mitterand's entering into office, and again when the electric energy consumption did not increase as expected, the programme was planned to be stretched out, is still being carried out as scheduled. Block 2 of Chinon reactor B (870 MW), Block 3 and 4 of Blayais reactor (2 x 910 MW and Cruas reactor (880 MW) were commissioned according to plan in 1983, so that French nuclear power plants now have a total output of 27.000 MW. Abstract (German)
Das franzoesische Kernenergieprogramm, dessen Ende insbesondere in den deutschen Massenmedien einmal beim Amtsantritt von Mitterrand, dann anlaesslich der mangels entsprechender Stromverbrauchszuwaechse beschlossenen Streckung vorhergesagt worden war, wird nach wie vor planmaessig realisiert. So gingen Block 2 von Chinon B (870 MW), Block 3 und 4 von Blayais (2 X 910 MW) und Cruas mit Block 1 (880 MW) 1983 planmaessig in Betrieb, so dass in Frankreich mittlerweile Kernkraftwerke mit einer Leistung von knapp 27 000 MW zur Verfuegung stehen. Die Stromerzeugung belief sich 1983 in Frankreich auf 283,4 Mrd. kWh und erhoehte sich gegenueber dem Vorjahr um 6,6%. Die Erzeugung aus Kernenergie stieg um 33% auf 137 Mrd. kWh, waehrend fuer alle anderen Energietraeger ein Rueckgang zu verzeichnen war, der beim Heizoel besonders deutlich ausfiel.
