Description

An insecticidal compound 6β-propoxycelangulin V was synthesized from celangulin V and 1-propanol through anhydrous iodination and Williamson reactions. The purpose of the study was to develop the microsynthetic method of 6β- propoxycelangulin V. The powdered root bark of Chinese bittersweet (Celastrus angulatus Max.) was extracted by benzene under reflux, followed by purification by macroporous-resin and silica-gel chromatography. The desired product was purified by RP-HPLC and identified by HRMS, 1H NMR and 13C NMR. The total yield was about 17%, and the purity was higher than 98%. This method could be applied in radiosythesis of 6β-([1-14C]propoxy)celangulin V. (authors)
