New techniques in radiodiagnostics and radiotherapy. Summary and evaluation of the closed meeting of the Radiation Protection Commission on 11/12 November 2004 in Berlin

In view of the soaring development of technologies for imaging and radiotherapy the German Radiation Protection Commission (SSK) has found it necessary to perform a critical analysis and evaluation of the use of ionising radiation and radioactive substances with regard to the radiation protection of patients and medical staff. The purpose of the present meeting was therefore to present the current state of knowledge on the latest developments in imaging diagnostics and radiotherapy with a view to identifying potential problems of radiation protection at an early stage and developing appropriate protective measures
