Radiation processing of teflon waste and its application
Description
In the production of various semifinized products from PTFE by sintering and during their subsequent processing a large amount of waste is formed that has so far not been used. Radiation degradation (104 kGy) of these wastes yields various liquid and gaseous perfluorinated hydrocarbons and acids, and the application of lower doses (about 102 kGy) makes the material more brittle so that a very fine PTFE powder can be obtained by milling. This powder can be used as an additive to lubricants, plastic materials, and paints. (author). 8 refs
