Review of experiments in the L-2 stellarator
Description
Experiments on currentless plasma production and heating in the L-2 stellarator by electron cyclotron resonance are discussed. Both an ordinary wave with the frequency ω = ωB (f = 37.5 GHz) and an extraordinary wave with the second harmonic ω = 2ωB (f = 75 GHz) were used. The HF input power varied in the range 100 - 280 kW, the average density varied in the range 0.75 -1.8·103 cm-3, the central electron temperature Te(0) reached ∼ 1 keV, and the energy content was 0.36 kJ.
