Description
On the basis of geomagnetic storm index (minimum Dst index), we have considered nine events of coronal mass ejections (CMEs), solar flares, geomagnetic storms and other parameters during the active period of solar cycle 23 (year 1999-2005). We have examined the physics and phenomenology of CMEs and associated solar flares and their further association with geomagnetic storms. Observational results conclude that coronal mass ejections having faster speed (>1,000 km/s) mostly produce stronger geomagnetic storms. (author)
