Influence of radiation on quality of motor fuels
- 1. Institute of Radiation Problems of ANAS, Baku (Azerbaijan)
Description
The ability of fuel components to keep the chemical composition under exploitation conditions at change of temperature, radiation, under the influence of metals has important practical value. In recent years is shown increased interest in oxidation and stabilization of jet fuels. It is caused by toughening of requirements to exploitational characteristics of fuels. As the research object were used the samples of diesel fuel from Azerbaijan oil. Laboratory researches were conducted on 60Co gamma source at the dose rate P = 0.18 Gr/s at different temperatures (the 50-250 degree C) and the absorbed dose D = 0,64 kGr.The conducted researches showed that at a high-temperature radiolysis at the absorbed dose 0,64 kGr in fuels influence of temperature on the course of ion-molecular radiolytic reactions can be shown generally owing to temperature dependence of reactions speed and thermal instability of some ions and free radicals. In diesel fuel an exit of C2-C5 increases with growth of temperature. At ≤ 200 degree C, exits of C2-C5 have a small temperature inclination, but it sharply increases at more high temperatures of irradiation. As a result of irradiation among gaseous products increases the amount of unsaturated hydrocarbons. Growth of temperature also stimulates formation of aromatic hydrocarbons in liquid products. The processes which have arisen in connection with radiolysis can develop after the termination of irradiation for a long time, that leads to change of fuel composition. As a result of it at an ambient air temperature exploitational properties of oil fuels worsen.
