Efficacy study of the digital image processing for the chest indirect radiograph, (1)

Description

The purpose of this study is to investigate the lesion detectability dependent on the image quality of the chest radiographs. The test films used are 200 radiographs of 70 mm size which consist of 120 films performed the spatial frequency enhancement of the three types, 40 films performed the contrast adjustment with digital computer and 40 original films. Nine doctors read these radiographs and detected the various findings. Moreover, they compared the processed image with the original image and evaluated the goodness of the image quality for the processed image subjectively. The relation of the lesion detectability and the results of the subjective evaluation for the image quality is dicussed. (author)
