Value of multislice CT in the diagnosis of closed duodenal injury

Description

Objective: To study the multislice CT appearance of closed duodenal injury. Methods: The CT of 13 patients with closed duodenal injury were retrospectively analyzed. Results: CT findings included peritoneal, retroperitoneal and right perirenal fluid (13), duodenal wall thickening (13), free air in the celiac and retroperitoneal regions (11), duodenal perforation (5), mesenteric fat stranding and hematoma (4). Conclusions: Contrast-enhanced multislice CT with multiplanar reconstruction provides valuable information for diagnosis of closed duodenal injury. (authors)
