Spectroscopic study of optical dense cesium vapors exciting by light of resonance lines

Description

It is shown experimentally that a uniform distribution of the excited atoms in the volume V approximately 60 cm3 can be obtained using optical excitation of optically dense vapours of cesium. The distribution function of the excited atoms with respect to velocities is maxwellian. The use of the regulation method which takes into account the apparatus distortions makes it possible to measure absorption line contour on the background of the spectral line, the widths of these lines being comparable with the width of the apparatus contour
