Description

This paper presents results of an experimental investigation of stress corrosion cracking (SCC) susceptibility of a commonly used carbon steel and two stainless steels in a caustic solutions typical of those used in alumina processing. The mode of the SCC crack propagation and the fractographic details of the specimens tested in the two environments have been compared. (author)
