Study of cadmium extraction by pelargonic acid solutions

Description

Cadmium extraction (10-5 M) by pelargonic acid solutions (1.0-5.7 M) in decane and heptanol is studied. Using the method of partial derivatives, it is established that in non-polar solvents the extractable complex is additionally solvated by three molecules of dimeric carboxylic acid, and in polar extracting agents extraction follows a simple cation exchange mechanism. The extraction constants in the systems of both types are close in magnitude
