The pulsar oblique rotator: numerical solution of an illustrative problem
Description
A series solution of the force-free pulsar magnetosphere equations, inside the velocity-of-light cylinder and excluding conduction current along the field lines, is developed. Computer-generated field line plots for the fully oblique rotator are presented. These illustrate the topology of the closed field line, open field line and vacuum regions which contains some unexpected features. Implications for pulse emission theories are briefly discussed.
