Description

There are two main problems in concrete encapsulation of spent ion-exchange resins from nuclear plants. The first is due to interaction between the hydraulic binder and water in the resins, and the second to chemical interactions between the immobilized ions and those in the cement paste. The undesirable effects of interaction with water have been overcome by use of a slag cement (CLK). The problem of chemical interactions has been resolved by resin pretreatment before concreting
