Scalar field and the Polyakov String

Description
It is shown that all two dimensional world-sheet reparametrization invariant and renormalizable theories of string field X/sub μ/, metric g/sub ab/ and nonlinearly coupled scalar filed Phi can be reduced to the Liouville theory provided there is no direct Phi-X/sub μ/ coupling and the theory is constrained to be ghost-free
