Interaction of a monoenergetic relativistic electron beam with dense plasma

  • 1. AN Ukrainskoj SSR, Kharkov. Fiziko-Tekhnicheskij Inst.

Description

Presented are the resUlts of the experimental investigation of efficiency of interaction of monoenergetic relativistic electron beams at the energies of 2 and 20 MeV with dense plasma (nsub(p) approximately 1015-1017 cm-3). The efficiency of interaction of such beams has been shown to increase with the plasma density increase. Microwave (lambda approximately 1 mm) and soft X radiations localized in the region of interaction have been found. Spatial correlation between the regions of SHF and X radiations and a decrease in the plasma density is observed. It is revealed that at the beam energy of 20 MeV 15-20 % of the electron beam accelerates up to 24 MeV as a result of interaction with dense plasma
