Licensing and regulatory requirements for uranium mining and milling in Brazil

This paper describes the primary objectives, principles and requirements used in the regulation of uranium mining and milling facilities in Brazil, providing an understanding of the licensing process. Some specific aspects of the regulatory process are discussed in detail to show where regulations should be updated and improved. The author believes that is necessary to establish some balance between the risks of the project and the assessment effort required.
