Spontaneous breakdown of gauge symmetry at infinite N
Description
The problem of breaking the gauge symmetry for lattice gauge theories with the U(N) gauge group in the limit N→infinity is discussed. It is shown that the breakdown of the gauge symmetry proved recently to occur in two dimensions occurs in higher dimensions. Some aspects of this phenomenon are clarified
