Description
The path of a charged particle in matter is calculated by integrating the stopping power of the medium against this particle. Depending on the energy of the particle, stopping powers are calculated using Lindhard, Bethe, or semi-empirical smoothing solutions. After exposing recent theories in this field, the authors present a Fortran subroutine which performs these various operations, and covers all energy domains. This routine is available for operation on IBM 360; it uses a magnetic tape library that can take into account experimental results. The subprogram presentation, leaving the user the option of entering the data and using the results at his discretion, allows a particularly flexible use. At the end of this note, some considerations on possible further improvements in the program, and a bibliography of the articles that have dealt with the question from a theoretical or an experimental point of view are discussed

Le calcul du parcours d'une particule chargee dans la matiere se fait par integration du pouvoir d'arret du milieu vis-a-vis de cette particule. Suivant l'energie de la particule, les pouvoirs d'arret sont calcules en faisant appel aux solutions de Lindhard, de Bethe, ou a un lissage semi-empirique. Apres expose des theories recentes dans ce domaine, on presente un sous-programme Fortran qui effectue ces diverses operations, et couvre tous les domaines d'energie. Ce sous-programme est disponible pour exploitation sur IBM 360; il utilise une bibliotheque sur bande magnetique, susceptible de tenir compte des resultats experimentaux. La presentation en sous-programme, laissant a l'utilisateur la faculte d'entrer les donnees et d'utiliser les resultats a son gre permet un emploi particulierement souple. A la fin de cette note, on trouvera quelques considerations sur les ameliorations possibles ulterieures du programme, et une bibliographie regroupant les articles qui ont traite la question, d'un point de vue theorique ou d'un point de vue experimental.
