Description

Polyol process is an environment friendly and cost effective synthesis method to obtain highly reducing metals such as Au and Ag whereas co-reduction of metals to obtain alloys are challenging. We report the successful synthesis of FeAu and present their optical and magnetic properties. The XRD analysis showed fcc structure and a Curie temperature of 400 °C was obtained from the thermomagnetic analysis. The room temperature magnetic measurements revealed a saturation magnetization of 15 emu/g. The optical nature of the compound was probed by UV-Visible spectroscopy which showed a blue shifted plasmon resonance peak at 550 nm. (author)
