Organic characterization of effluents from fluidized bed combustion of coals
Description
The organic components of the potential effluents from a fluidized bed coal combustor were sampled by collecting vapor-phase compounds on a Tenax polymer adsorbent trap and collecting particulate samples with a concentric electrostatic precipitator (CESP).The samples were Soxhlet extracted to remove the organic components. The extracts were characterized by gas chromatography to quantitate the extractable hydrocarbons and by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry to obtain molecular weights of components. The vapor phase of the effluent contained higher concentrations of extractable hydrocarbons than the particles
