Two Steps SO2 and No Removal from Flue Gas Using Low-Rank Coal Char

Description
The use of carbons in the SO2 and NO abatement has been of increasing concern in the last years. A process for the simultaneous removal of SO2 and NO has been developed at commercial level by DMT (former Bergbau Forschung) and Sumitono among others using active coke or active carbon as catalyst However, the economics of the process could be improved if carbons of lower cost and similar adsorption capacity could be used. The relationship between the catalytic activity of carbons and their properties is complex and is influenced by the special features of the chemical reactions considered. The aim of this contribution is to cany out a screening of the role of non-activated low- rank coal chars in the SO2 adsorption and NO reduction with NH3 from hue gas.
