Hybrid choke coils of 17.5 T for TASKA-M

  • 1. Kernforschungszentrum Karlsruhe GmbH, Institut fur Technische Physik

Description

The design of a 17.5 T choke coil is described. The coil is provided as a hybrid with a normal-conducting inner part and a superconducting outer part. Design constraints and routines are described in view of the following aspects: layout of the normal-conducting insert for minimum power consumption, composition of the superconductor composite with respect to critical data, electrical stabilization, and mechanical reinforcement, radial position due to neutron shielding requirements and lifetime of the coil
