X-rays tube with versatile relative intensity spectrum
Description
This x-rays tube is designed to emit energy on several energy lines, according to the operator's needs. This is mainly requested for mammography uses, as optimal energy lines depend on the size of the mammary gland (energy range just above 20 keV). This is obtained by a specific anode made of two metals determining three cylindrical zones: first metal, then alternately first and second metal, then second metal. The anode zone on which the cathode emitted electron beam is focused, is controlled by a translation of anode along its revolution axis. The translation itself is performed either by an electromagnet or by an electric motor. (D.L.). 5 refs., 2 figs
