Production of intense X-ray beam via laser compton scattering at BNL
Description
We observed 1.7 x 108 X-ray photons/pulse generated through Compton scattering between 14 GW CO2 laser and 60 MeV electron beams at the Brookhaven National Laboratory. Further upgrade of the CO2 laser is scheduled to achieve peak power of 1 TW and it enables us to observe effect of nonlinear Compton scattering. (author)
