Steels tough at subzero temperatures

Description
The manufacture and properties of low alloyed, ferritic, high nickel alloy and Austenitic steels tough at sub-zero temperatures are explained. Data are given for machining and particularly for welding. According to their composition and heat treatment, these steels can be used in the range from -100C to the boiling point of helium. The good liability to brittle fracture of the basic material and of welded joints can be shown from many investigations. The steels tough at sub-zero temperatures described comply with all the requirements of national and international regulations. (orig.)
Abstract (German)
Herstellung und Eigenschaften bekannter kaltzaeher niedriglegierter ferritischer, hochnickellegierter sowie austenitischer Staehle werden erlaeutert. Es werden Angaben fuer das Verarbeiten, insbesondere Schweissen, gemacht. Je nach chemischer Zusammensetzung und Waermebehandlung sind die Staehle im Bereich von -100C bis zum Siedepunkt des Heliums einsetzbar. In vielen Untersuchungen konnte die gute Sproedbruchunempfindlichkeit sowohl des Grundwerkstoffs als auch der Schweissnahtverbindung nachgewiesen werden. Die beschriebenen kaltzaehen Staehle entsprechen allen Anforderungen nationaler und internationaler Regelwerke. (orig.)Additional details
