Description
Elastic neutron-scattering investigations were performed on polycrystalline and single-crystal samples of intermediate-valent TmSesub(1-x)Tesub(x) (0.1 = 3.4 K and ordered magnetic moments μsub(Tm) <= 1.6(1)μsub(B). No antiferromagnetic Bragg peaks were detected. The present results accomplish bulk magnetic measurements and support Varma's theory of mixed-valence behaviour of TmSe based on double-exchange coupling. (Auth.)
