Description

Titanium dioxide sedimentation through charge neutralization and addition of Na2SO4 as coagulant agent has been investigated, looking for its recovery from effluents of suspended photocatalyst reactors. Spectrophotometric measurements were carried out in order to analyze the suspended TiO2 concentration, following the changes in the optical absorbance of the suspension when the pH and Na2SO4 concentration were varied. Our results show the importance of charge neutralization with respect the the addition of Na2SO4. A previous characterization of our commercial sample, concerned with X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy and specific area, is also presented. (Author) 12 refs
